A new panel of architects is being created for ADUP 2

To help tackle the problems with development in London and creating enough new properties to keep up with demand the Mayor and Transport for London (TfL) are recruiting architects for a new framework. The £35 million Architecture Design and Urbanism Panel (ADUP) will be the second of its type. It will see new teams take on the responsibility of bringing commissions for work on TfL and City Hall owned projects forward over the next four years. The new panel will be in a position to make a huge impact on the built environment in London. The current ADUP panel launched in 2014 and to date has delivered over 80 projects worth more than £22 million in fees. It features 60 architects, bringing together a huge array of knowledge and experience. There are even a number of award winning firms involved. The new panel, dubbed ADUP 2, will be aiming to better the performance of its predecessor. One of the big opportunities they will have is delivering the residential architecture London currently needs. A huge part of this will be the 100 plus projects that will be spread across the 2,300 hectares of land that Transport for London is making available for development.Applications to be part of the panel are welcome until 14th February. Of them up to 225 will be shortlisted and be invited to take part in a design challenge. After every team has had the chance to showcase their expertise a decision on the final panel will be made.Once the membership of ADUP 2 is finalised a wide variety of organisations will be able to call on them for help and support with projects. This includes London Boroughs, housing associations, and development corporations. It is hoped that ultimately, the level of expertise in ADUP 2 will exceed that of the existing panel and play a pivotal role in delivering the high quality residential architecture London needs.
