A modern extension for a Queens Park home

We were recently happy to be shortlisted in the Architects Journal Retrofit Awards 2015 for one of our residential projects, adding an extension to an existing terraced property in Queens Park, London. With the Modern Side Extension / London, we aimed to provide a practical and beautiful solution to give the residents essential extra living space, incorporating innovative design elements and materials for stunning results. The project called for an extension that would harmonise perfectly with the property, rather than being an incongruous addition. To achieve this, we designed a structure which would be constructed in traditional brick for a subtle and non-ostentatious effect, with the incorporation of glass sections to bring it up to date for contemporary day to day living. Aluminium bi-fold sliding doors open up fully to provide a seamless transition between the interior and the outdoors, bringing a spacious, open and airy feel the space, and our use of glass allows natural light to flood in even when the doors are closed.Extensions can pose a real challenge for architects, as it is important to strike the right balance between innovation and preserving the character of the original property. Our team are well equipped to meet all these challenges and have consistently produced successful extensions which are ideal for the needs of residents, while only making a positive impact on the surroundings. This extension is a truly contemporary creation, but with its pitched roof and clever use of space, it keeps the conservation officers happy and does not intrude on the neighbours, producing a solution that works for everyone in the area.If you are considering extending your home and would like to work with a team who are highly experienced in all aspects of residential architecture in London and beyond, look no further. We will work closely with you to ensure that you gain that all-important extra living space while adding beauty, value and practical benefits to your home.
