A new development with an excellent BREEAM rating

A new construction project is taking place at one of the last undeveloped spots along the River Thames. Lombard Wharf will be built at Lombard Road in Battersea, incorporating 135 apartments and providing a new example of innovative residential architecture in London. There's been a lot of attention on this project due to the unusual "twisted" shape the finished tower is going to have, thanks to its wraparound balconies. It's being designed by local architects Patel Taylor, and is set to be completed in 2017. One of the most exciting things about this new tower is the fact that it will have a BREEAM Excellent Rating. The BREEAM rating indicates the highest standards in sustainable design, construction and operation. It encourages architects to consider how they can reduce carbon emissions and make minimal impact on the environment by producing buildings which have minimal energy requirements, while still meeting the demands of modern residents and businesses and ensuring that the buildings are highly functional. They may also incorporate new technology to increase energy efficiency. The assessment covers a wide range of different issues including energy and water use, materials, wastage, pollution and the health and wellbeing of the property's inhabitants. As we are committed to optimising sustainability in everything we do, we are looking to this new development with interest. Hopefully new construction projects such as these are a signifier that all buildings will reach excellent standards of sustainability in the future, and that architects will continue to consider ways to minimise their impact. When we are working on your public, commercial or residential project we always strive to make considerate and thoughtful design decisions which lead to beneficial and sustainable results.
