Extending and enhancing properties in conservation areas

One such project involved the design and construction of a two-storey home extension and garage to a family residence located in one of York's conservation areas. The City of York has a rich heritage. It is a unitary authority area with rural locations that extend beyond the old city boundaries. Its varied landscape and historical landmarks make it one of the most historically and architecturally significant places in the UK.The family in question have a long history of involvement in the seed trading business, and the existing property stands next to a plantation area. The focus of the project was to connect the house to the landscape with the extension and build an elevated living space and ground-level studio easily accessible by a stairway. Along with achieving this design objective, we placed a soothing and tranquil water feature outside the property to create a space for relaxation. The external space benefits from the sun that floods it with light and the surrounding leaves offer contrasting shade.The pitched roof allows light and views to and from the property, with the glazed opening visible from a distant street entrance.
