A wonderful competition
Recently, we made the shortlist for the Don't Move, Improve competition. The residential commission is something that is the subject of lots of experimenting to look at new ideas. It has been this way for hundreds of years. There is nowhere on earth where this is more accurate than in London. Here, the constraints of space and price make designing structures a real challenge. As a result, commissions for redesigns, alterations, and home extensions tend to be very common. The New London Architecture runs the show, having established it a decade ago. This is an independent forum that covers construction and architecture in London. When it comes to everyday, innovative builds and design, this is one of the most anticipated shows. Among the highlights is our own pristine and stylish Apartment Block in the centre of Clerkenwell.
Pushing boundaries
Each year, the competition ends up full of nominees that push the boundaries of design. Projects can be out in the suburbs as well as in the inner city. Whatever the case, they celebrate the impact that excellent design has on London. As time has passed, there has been a lot of diversity in approaches to details like materiality, light, and colour. We are honoured to be a part of this.
