NLA Award winners for Housing

The annual New London Architecture (NLA) Awards were held on July 5th. The prestigious awards are supported by the Mayor of London and look to celebrate the best new and proposed projects in the capital. An amazing 15 sectors of the built environment are celebrated, including housing, education, culture and community, and mixed use. The NLA is proud to highlight work that is very high quality and that manages to enrich its surroundings. This was a very special year for the Coffey Architects team and further established us as one of the leading names for residential architecture London has. The joint project on Croydon Small Sites Programme we are involved in incredibly won the unbuilt award in the Housing category. As well as the award, the Mayor of London also commended the project. The win is fantastic and showcases just how great the work with smaller sites is. We have real belief that the capital will benefit from more work to ensure smaller, trickier plots of land are developed. The award will hopefully inspire more people to look at taking on the development rather than ignoring or avoiding it. After-all wonderful things can be done on these sites. It is great to win an NLA award, particularly with the fact that the 32 2017 winners were chosen from a shortlist of 150 projects. Each of them is noteworthy in their own right and deserved to be in the running for an award. We couldn't be happier to receive the award alongside our partners on the programme. The winning built project in the housing category was Silchester Estate in North Kensington. The project has some similarities with ours because it was also focused on creating sustainable high quality houses in the capital. It shows that housing continues to be a major topic and one that is receiving a huge amount of attention. If you are planning a project of your own you can call on us at any time for advice. Our position as one of the most passionate and talented names for residential architecture London has means we will always offer the best support.
