This year's Festival of Architecture
The theme for the 2015 London Festival of Architecture has been revealed and will celebrate "Work in Progress". The event takes place between the 1st and 30th of June at sites all across the capital and will display a variety of different projects that highlight the continued growth and development of large cities. Last year's festival was the 10th anniversary and the largest to date, but this edition is set to be even bigger and better. The "Work in Progress" theme will shed light on the impact that architecture has on the social, urban and cultural development of cities. London is renowned as one of the most popular, dynamic and exciting metropolitan areas in the world and has countless architectural projects in progress at any given time. This makes it the perfect setting for such a great celebration of all things architecture. The 2015 Festival will be a collaboration between several architectural authorities, including the London branch of RIBA, the Architectural Foundation and New London Architecture. Next month will see the first steps in planning the festival, including the preliminary pushes to get people involved. Designers, artists and architects in London will all be asked to contribute, whether it is by submitting artwork, videos offering workshops or delivering tours. Last year there were even bicycle rides to explore projects around the city. The event is a great way to showcase the talent of individuals living and working in London, highlighting the successes the architectural sector has. With over 200 different events last year it will be exciting waiting for announcements about what will feature in this year's festival. One thing you can expect is that many examples of work from architects in London and the surrounding areas will be on show, as well as examples from renowned national and international companies. If you have the opportunity during June make sure you stop by one of the projects for a unique experience.
