The changing presentation of residential architecture
Designing buildings, whether they are homes, commercial premises, or public properties, is a delicate business and it requires only the most dedicated of people to get the job done right. Having completed a range of residential architecture projects for our clients over the years throughout London and beyond, our experience in the field has grown immensely. This has established us as an insightful, creative team. The current housing market in the UK has had an impact on the number of people looking to build new private residences. More people have gained the necessary funding to take this option and with the number of homes being built it is becoming a favoured option. With the ever-increasing number of houses that are being built the world over, architects have been busy trying to find inventive ways to set our designs apart and satisfy the needs of inhabitants.A considerable amount of contemporary homes utilise sculptural forms like projecting cantilevers, smooth surfaces and shifted volumes to bring in some allure. What we're seeing more of however is a completely original formal element, that of the circular void. Similar to the oculus of the Pantheon, these round-shaped spaces become a kind of aperture, which draws our eyes up to the skies. One thing that we have used for a long time to protect against the rain and sun is screens. These days they are covering skylights within residences, protecting interior rooms from excessive sunlight, while at the same time reducing the demands for artificial lights. In addition, the slatted models produce some astounding shadows that change along with the sun's position. At Coffey Architects we go the extra mile to ensure that the requirements for our client's residential architecture are met. We really enjoy being involved in these projects and working closely with clients to address their requirements. If you want to work with us just inform us of what you want your proposal to be like and we'll get right on it.
